Sweet Sixteen

On April 19, 1997, I felt joy like I had never felt in my life.  I became a mommy to Sydney Ann. 

I certainly couldn't envision her as a teenager.  She has become someone who I would have envied at that age.  She is beautiful and confident.  She has a compassionate heart.  Most importantly, she is a Jesus girl!

Today, on this snowy April day, she will take her exam for her driver's license.  I am excited for her.  Yet, I know it means that I will have to let go a little bit.

Child, I love you more than I could ever express.  

I love how silly you are.  I love your how passionate you are about new ideas.  Although your persistence might make my "mom" job a little more difficult at times, it is going to serve you well.

I am proud of the young woman you've become and look forward to watching you change and grow as a person over the coming years.
